Register for August 12 Workshop DED’s Office of Broadband Development (OBD) is proceeding with the implementation of the $1.7 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program. This program is intended to connect all remaining locations that lack access to broadband internet. As a part of this process, OBD has identified a list of eligible locations and a subset of locations to be categorized as non-broadband serviceable locations. OBD will soon issue letters to counties and municipalities informing them of the non-broadband serviceable locations (BSLs) identified within their jurisdiction. It is vitally important that counties and municipalities review the list of non-BSLs within their area to ensure all legitimate households and businesses can receive broadband service. If a county/municipality does not challenge a location’s non-BSL status prior to approval of Missouri’s Final Proposal, that location will not be eligible for BEAD funding. Local Government Non-BSL Review Workshop OBD will hold a workshop on August 12, 2025, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (CST) to demonstrate the process for challenging a non-BSL determination. OBD staff will be available for participants seeking technical assistance for various aspects of the review process. This workshop is open to the public, but content will be specific to the needs of Missouri counties and municipalities. Registration is now open here.
